Psychologist · Gosford & telehealth

Kyriann Coates

Registered Psychologist (Clinical Registrar) · Board-approved Supervisor

I’m a psychologist who keeps therapy practical, honest and human. I work with adults and adolescents in Gosford and by telehealth, including with the things people often find hardest to talk about.

How I work

Therapy can be hard work, but it doesn't have to be grim.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. We’ll start by understanding what’s going on for you and what you’d like to be different, then work out an approach that fits your life, not the other way around.

I draw on evidence-based therapies including CBT, DBT, ACT, interpersonal therapy, and schema-informed approaches, and I keep things practical, so you leave sessions with something you can actually use.

Sessions are a non-judgemental space, and there’s room for warmth and humour when it helps.

Approaches I use

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)

Schema-informed therapy

Outside the therapy room

Outside the therapy room, you’ll find me singing, behind a mixing desk, at a gig, or out in nature. Between sound engineering and therapy, I spend a lot of time listening closely, which might explain the sound wave in my logo.
